EBooks

I can't write fast enough!! I still remember writing as a teenager and trying to pen everything down in any spiral notebook I could lay my hands on. I still have all those things I ever wrote, (some of them I am embarrassed to admit I wrote). How many pens did I go through? How many times did I stretch them until they wouldn't write anymore? In looking back through these hand written manuscripts, I can remember the moments the content spilled out onto the paper, and I really mean, 'spilled'. There were so many ideas in my head that were running in a constant loop, I couldn't write them nearly fast enough, Hence, that early stuff is quite fragmented and very difficult to read. Not just because of its fragmentation, but because the handwriting was so quick, you could barely read it. Now, after so many years, they have begun to fade and deteriorate. Hence, my diligence in getting them forever recorded in digital format. That's almost complete. (The important stuff anyway).

My little brother, (youngest is a better term for him), has written a series of SciFi action books, called 'The Rayne Chronicles'. As he was moving toward getting them published, I offered to let him use my printing and publishing platform to get it out there. He politely refused, indicating that he was strictly going the EBook route. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out exactly why. There is nothing like having a book you can hold in your hands. He didn't want to be saddled with the hassle of physical books. I suppose there is something to be said for that and I know he looks at these kinds of things in an entirely different light than I do. When I finished 'Thulsa's Gate', I only wanted to have that book in my hand and could hardly get that first box open fast enough. I remember tearing up when I pulled it out of the shipping box and holding it for the first time. I sense that my brother felt the same way when he could look online and see his Rayne series offered in multiple formats so everyone could enjoy them.

Now, after getting both my book series started down the publishing lane, I've come to realize the value in the EBook market. More and more people who haven't read a book in years, are turning to the electronic format and getting back into the wonderful world of reading. I still know lots of people, young and old, who much prefer curling up with a physical book in hand and getting lost in the story. I remember doing this when I read 'The Hobbit'. Oh, and most of them are saying, "The bigger the book, the better!" I'm told that both 'Thulsa's Gate' and 'Starbird', fit that description nicely. Having said that, both titles are now available in EBook format, across the entire format lineup. Not sure how all that works, but I'm grateful for the printing/distribution network I have through Ingram/Spark that allows for these options for free. Now, does anyone have about $5k for marketing?
