Fan art made by a fan of the book, Tina Skaggs.
Amanda dress fitting April 2017
Catrina's mother, Amanda is depicted as nose art on the side of the World War II Bomber Catrina's father flew in the war. To get the right look, a dress was searched and found online, purchased, then modeled for style and dimension.

Amanda Dallas pinup
This is the final image Nina created of the nose art used on the World War II airplane Tony Dallas flew. Notice how the dress turned out along with the sword and scabbard.
The main male character, Britten Garrett
Britten was originally going to be somewhere on the cover, but the idea was nixed due to the complexity of the cover. This rendition makes him look a little angry.
Britten Garrett polished
Here, Nina has toned Britten's expression down a bit and filtered in more color.
Winter Parka for the salvage team
During the writing process, Nina Swallow created a series of composites to help me visualize what the characters might be wearing at any given time so that they could be described better in the book.
Catrina Dallas throne room attire
Simple composites for better description in the storyline. This one is for the throne room.
Catrina Dallas winter wear
As Britten takes Catrina out into a snow storm, she has to have winter gear. This is what Nina would have envisioned for her.
Sparring outfit
Catrina trains Britten to fight with weapons. This would have been her sparring outfit.
Catrina in casual wear
Something a little more informal and comfortable for the Queen of Thulsa.
Informal wear for Catrina
Catrina would have worn an outfit such as this to mingle with her subjects in Thulsa.
Catrina Dallas new armor composite
This was the new direction we decided to go with the cover image of Catrina. Here, Nina is compositing her outfit and pose.
Catrina Dallas compositing detail to her armor
Weapons added and armor detail added for an elegant, yet functional look.
Catrina Amanda Dallas
This is the final look of Catrina's face. It is as close to the real thing as it can get without a photo.
Catrina Amanda Dallas
Notice the jewelry has changed to something a little more elegant.
Catrina Amanda Dallas: Warrior Queen
This is the final rendering of Catrina that made it to the cover. I think it turned out amazing.
Thulsa's Gate E-book cover image
We wanted something different for the E-book to distinguish it from the printed version. We chose this version.
B-25 none color inflight
The aircraft used in the book is a B-25 model J depicted here. This picture helped Nina figure out dimensional placement on the cover.
