Starbird takes flight!
Just about any Indie author will tell you, putting a book together and keeping it on a schedule can sometimes be a nightmare. Thulsa's Gate was my first Indie publication, and it just seemed to happen. I guess that's just because I didn't know any better and had no real expectation as to what to expect from the process. As I was finishing up work on Starbird, I started making a schedule to get it published by a certain date. Partly because I wanted it to come out at the same time of year as Thulsa's Gate came out, but also because I needed to be held accountable. While editing didn't take as long as Thulsa's Gate took, it was still maddening trying to keep the editor on task and going, (they have lives too). Then the formatting seemed like it fought me every step of the way. Starbird ended up two weeks beyond the targeted publishing date.
But as with any author, Indie or traditional, there is a deep sense of satisfaction in seeing your work in tangible print in a place where others interested in a grand adventure can come and share in the experience. Writing is a lot of work. Publishing is even more work, but it is so much fun and so worth all the hard work!
